Costco microfibers marked down

I bought a pack of those Kirkland microfiber towels and took them back to Costco the next day. There were just not soft enough for me.
The Home Depot HDX are way softer. Not that I'm trying to drum up any business for Home Depot.
If I could find the same towel somewhere else, I'd go there instead.

Obviously you didn't wash them first, have a used pack and after washing in warm water and double rinse cycle,dry medium and they come out soft, work great when doing spray waxes.

No I don't wash them first because I'm afraid of introducing lint to them. The HDX are soft out of the bag and completely lint free.
If you're just using them for your car, the Costco Kirkland will be fine. I should've said that in my first post.

You’re doing something wrong, then.
They’re perfect when new out of the bag. Almost comparable to some expensive MF towels.
But once you wash them, it’s game over.
But that’s not how microfibers work. They can be washed over and over again without any change in their properties, and they remain soft enough to be used for correcting fresh paint (which is extremely soft).

What you stated is correct for good microfiber towels. I have many of those in my inventory.
The Costco ones are a different story.

It’s interesting because the rag company instructions say specifically to wash first. I know there are different types and sizes of fibers, and Costco gets theirs at a price point somehow…
I personally like the edge less longer nap microfiber for detailing work. I don’t use any with nap similar to the Costco rags. I use Costco rags for tasks where I figure I’ll dispose of them after some use..
Costco microfibers are no good? What's a poor boy to do? Sheesh.
Yep they are interior, dirty wheel well engine crap after that. Or house cleaning dusting clothes. Just rags really. So cheap but work well 2 phases of there lives

I find the Costco MF towels plenty linty right out of the package. Try wiping a window with them and tons of lint will be left behind. I still use them on my paint and seats, but use special lint free ones from Amazon specifically for windows:

The HDX are the only ones I trust on my computer screen and the car's instrument cluster. Anything else is not that critical.
