I wonder how they can continue to claim all those approvals, licenses and specifications? Those have gotten more stringent "over the years". A real mystery I guess.

Let not your heart be troubled - that Kirkland “synthetic” is maxed out with Mobil EHC Grp2+
Our '06 Acura TSX has had a steady diet of Mobil 1 5w30 at 5K (or less) OCIs. 233K on the clock and does not go through a drop.

I've used Mobil 1 oils since 1978 and have not found your claim to be true. It fact todays Mobil 1 performs as good or maybe better than any I've used. That's my experience.

I buy Mobil 1 Extended Performance @ Wal-Mart cheaper than the regular/generic M1 or whatever M1 they sell at Costco.
I never bought any M1 at Costco and only buy Kirkland Full Synthetic 5w30 and in old days Chevron Supreme for iirc about $2/qt. when on sale.
btw, my engines lasted a very LONG time on Supreme 5w30 syn-blend and Supreme 10w30 conventional. Couple of the cars are still running fine (over 250 & 320K miles). Short OCIs baby but don't tell anyone!
Costco dropped Mobil 1 ... that is Verizon Mobil. They only have AT&T in my area. In old days, they had at least 2 options.

Yeah, just like walmart with price per qt. In fact, in walmart you can get pack of 3 of 5qt jugs for even less per qt

Maybe it's regional, for me Walmart online brings up $43.48 on sale vs Costco $31.49 on sale for 6 qts 5w30 AFS. The 5 qt jug is $27.97
