corrosion on aluminum rims

Right, but I need to strip the old clear coat and do something with the corrosion. How to do that?


Soda or plastic media blasting would be the best way.

I have a nice aluminum oxide blaster at work (just did some backing plates - they look new!) but IMO, it would be too abrasive for wheels.

The guy from Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists got back to me and said it would be better to buy new rims. Did not try to sell me his service. Thats a bit odd as his business is to repair rims.
