Sorry to post another new thread, but I did a search and was unable to find much info on the Kumho Solus KH16.

According to CR, the KH16 is a much better tire than the CS4 Touring (T-Rated).

The price is within $20 for a set of four. Which one would you folks pick?

Thanks.

Well, read some tirerack riviews and go from there. This will help you narrow down which tire is best for you so that you can make your final choice.

It would depend where I lived. I know it's not factual, or science, but I prefer tires with at least some wide lateral grooves for deep snow, and the KH16 doesn't really have any and the CS4 does. So living in WI, I might stay away from the KH16. Otherwise the Kumho gets some good reviews.

I have the kh-16's I think they would be fine for california.
very quiet smooth ride, good dry traction, good wet traction.

Cant comment on wear or snow, but as mentioned they dont have a tread pattern tuned at all for snow.

I'd say I'll probably buy same tire replacements they are great here for spring-summer-fall and I have dedicated winter tires.
Also they are one of the least expensive tires..
you might also consider the bfgoodrich traction ta.. they had some sizes(for 17"rims) on clearance for about 75/tire

only pics I have handy.

So I called Sears today and they said the KH16s are not in-stock. They're about a week away.

While I don't mind waiting a week this time, it's a bit concerning since if my friend suddenly needs a replacement tire, he's stuck. Especially if he's on a trip.

they are in stock all around here.. you face the problem you mentioned with any tire really.

although I'm not pushing you for the kumhos.. just giving my observations on them.. since I actually have them.

The Cs4s, hands down. I find the KH16s soft, and lacking some bite on the tread.

I was considering the Kh21s, but after driving a few cars (and SUVs) with them on, I don't think they could handle a pothole around here....

I don't think you can expect any tire to be in stock in the size you want all the time, unless it's from a high volume/low selection place like Sams or Costco. Even then, who knows what they'll have in two years time.

If it eases your mind, tire rack shipping is very fast, at least to my address, and will ship one tire in a pinch.

+1 for tire rack I ordered tires and rims at 6pm eastern and got them the next day at 4pm (they had to mount and balance them too)

the tires are somewhat soft these are more of a comfort tire.

I've had sporty tires in the past like yokohama s-drive etc.

and these are so much smoother. you do lose some handling but it has plenty for my car..

even with the touring package and stabilizer bars.

that being said they are H-rated (at least mine are)

To All,

Just my experience but . . . my CS4's would not balance & I switched to Kumho which have been better.
