Agreed. Were they a good price?

I've considered the tiger paw AWPs myself.....

Yeah, sorry about that....but after I read about Bill in Utah getting over 100k on a Tiger Paw I started looking into them and found a H rated tire that was rated at 70,000 miles.

After I found that, I wrote down Tiger Paw and General Altimax and gave it to my grandfather who knew someone in the tire biz and he said the owner's said tiger paw was the way to go. However, I still love Kumho.. The 732s that I just took off were from 2001 and I had them since late 08 and put 35000 miles on them and they still had tread and never blew out like some of BITOG thought. No telling how many miles the PO drove on them. So next tire will probably be KR22s or even the KH16 if the 22s dont live up to their 100k mile warranty.

thanks

ive run all 3 tires on my gf's golf and the generals were the best overall. Kumho was best for the price and the BFGs were somewhere in the middle.

Just swapped over to Goodyear GT allseason (ultra high performance all season) and they seem to be working well thus far.

Ok fellas, just traded the Tiger Paws in on some Solus KR22s. Feels alot sportier now even with running lower pressures (32/29 so far vs 34/30 in the Uniroyals).

Acceleration is more spontanious and less squirm in the corners and supposedly 30k more miles out of them, we'll see about that though.

MPG between the KR22 and Tiger Paw seems to be a wash. With the tiger paws I was getting 37 and 31 w/ac. Now with the KR22 I get 39 and 30 w/ac, but I've only had them a week so I've been unable to get a consistent reading. Both tires get worse mileage than the 732s that were on there (40 and 33 w/ac).

I just wish I was able to have waited another month when the shop would have had the 22s in, but it wasnt so bad of a deal trading them in.

Man, they tried to pry off my hub cover when you just unscrew the plastic lugs, the pressure were about 8psi too high and the lugs were not tightened evenly. At least they didnt over tighten them. Dude backed up and hit the curb when bringing the car around.

I went against my instinct and let them do it, but will just take the tires in next time. I'll most likely get the KR22 100k mile tire next time. Nobody had them in stock around here and I dont know if they'll be a flop like the KR21.

Were the KR21 really a flop? I see them on lots of cars here.

I have read the same thing about the Kumho Solus KR-21's, 1/2 the rated mileage but, that's about the only bad thing that I have read. Although there are always going to be those who just didn't have good luck with them and that's the way it is with product. The reviews on the KR-21's are quite good.

I know that Im jumping in this conversation kind of late. In my opinion mjoekingz28, the 3 tires you mentioned at the start of your post are all decent tires and very comparable in terms of quality, price, performance etc. One of them will do something better than the other two but, each will excell in a particular area. I look for tires that excell in the areas that I find that I need most. I have a criteria. I know that most tires are fine on dry road, OK? Im looking for tires that meet my driving style and climate.
Im looking for tires that are good in the snow/ice/wet, track nicely on the highway, balance well, and of course...smooth/quiet and last close to their rated miles.
Dry road handling/cornering is a low priority with me as I think a most tires can do this decently. If I want more handling, I'll move up to a higher speed rating but usually "T" rated tires are fine enough for me.
Pirelli P4, Yokohama Avid TRZ, Hankook Optimo H727, Kumho Solus KR-21 and a couple of others are some of the highest standard touring tires available in a variety of speed rating and sizes. These are the types of tires for me
