Is it an OAT based coolant. normally you'd go with a color coordinated one or use a universal coolant. Having a little bit of residual coolant would be enough to cause problems with the coolant you have if you know for sure it isn't the universal type.
Should be fine. A lot of diesels are iron blocks with aluminum radiators these days and as far as I know all the medium duty and bigger trucks are coming from the factory with red extended life coolant.
I have been using the peak version called final charge in all my vehicles gas and diesel for years now with good results.
