Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus

I had to replace one at 500 miles due to a nail in the sidewall. The newer one is quiet. The rest are loud.
Something about this doesn't make sense to me.

How do you know the one tire is quiet?

Are you sure they're all the same model of tire?

Switched from snow Blizzak WS90 to DWS06+ on BMW.
At young age of 45, I got third kid last week. I don;t anticipate skiing by myself this season anymore, so no need for winters on BMW. If I go to ski, it will be with two older kids, which means taking Sequoia due to size. Changing them this early, will allow me to run this set of Blizzaks next winter too.
I forget over the winter what a remarkable tire this is. I get bit frustrated bcs. sidewalls are on the softer side (I pump front 41psi, rear 45psi because of it), but behavior on the road is truly impressive. It almost feels like UHP summer tire, not all-season. And brakes? I have Brembo on my BMW from F30 335/340i, and when you slam on the brakes having DWS06+ on wheels, it takes a lot to activate the ABS in dry conditions, but in the meantime, you are hanging on your seat belt, trying to take a breath.

I have those on my e90, and I like them.

Not sure on how long they will last - but Edy will probably wear them out before me

Any issues with excessive wear in center of tire at those pressures?

No. I am only running like 3psi higher than recommended. BMW has two recommendations, up to 100mph and over 100mph. Over 100mph recommended pressure is 38/41

What’s the noise profile like on these? I had one set that were incredibly quiet … except for a very clear tone that was constantly in the cabin and drove me nuts … replaced them inside of the 30 day satisfaction window but was so confused about it since they generally get best-of-breed reviews. ?

I did not notice any noise. They are quiet, especially after the snow tires. Maybe I notice something after few days. But it is the third season, and the noise never bothered me.

I find them quiet, quiter than my Michelin PSAS4s. I mean, they aren't a grand touring all season so there is certainly some tone here but nothing annoying to me.

I’m very interested in this tire but my Bridgestone turanzas are wearing like iron. In fact, I’d consider another set if I wasn’t such a Continental fan. I just bought a set of pro contacts to replace my CC2s that are still @6/32nds but haven’t had time to have them installed. I’m going to use lx25s for winter tires. I loathe the cc2s with a burning passion! I paid a grand for these and wouldn’t buy them again if they were a 1/4 of the price.

A little nostalgia: When Turanza tires (no letters or numbers, just Turanza) were first released around 1992-1993, I bought a set for a Ford Taurus. I still remember them being one of my all-time favorite daily driver tires. Today they'd probably be called All Season Grand Touring.

BTW, as the OP here, just wanted to post an update. After 12 months and ~5K miles, I can say the Falken Azenis FK460 A/S tires I decided on for my 2016 Mustang GT are working just fine. Still perfectly balanced and relatively quiet, and IMO they give up little if anything to the Michelin AS/3 tires they replaced. Granted, highly skilled drivers among you might not agree.

I just put a set in 235/60r18 on the 24 outback XT
They are very comfortable. Yet still reasonably sporty.

The general as-05 have been good on the Elantra smaller sidewall but they feel firmer than the dws06+

Probably replace with general as-07 on the Elantra next year. They are also very good, more sporty feeling than the continentals.

I don't need anything more on either of these vehicles.
