Constant fog and moisture this time of year. Effect on electronics and such?

Is this just a gulf coast thing, or is it everywhere this time of year? I'll get into my truck in the morning, you can't see out the windows, the stereo speakers pop when I start the truck, I'm assuming due to the moisture content in the air. Etc.

How old is the truck? I wonder if the cones are old and swelling up with moisture, or rust is setting in, or some other odd thing. Not sure I've ever noticed this, but it's been a long time since I left the radio on when I got out of the car.

Maybe the radio is acting up and something is on the fritz inside it. Which may or may not be related to humidity--its failure mode influenced by, but ultimately not fixing whatever is actually broken.

Possibly. Its my 2007 dodge did the same thing last year on wet days like today. Radio still works like it always has

The speakers making a pop noise isn't from moisture as far as I can tell. Never heard of that.

Moist. There wasn't enough bleach in the world to get rid of the mildew when we lived in Louisiana. When I was helping some friends get their stuff out of NOLA after Katrina I saw more then one car that was roached with so much mold on the interior that I could feel my eyes watering just walking by outside of it.

I wonder if florida has the same problem. Foggy misty cool nights in the winter a couple hours after the sun goes down? I bet the midwest doesn't have this problem.

most if not all automotive electronics are coated with a conformal coating, acrylic being the cheapest. That prevents any shorting due to condensation.

You should check the speakers to make sure they're not short-circuting due to water from the door seeping into the speaker cone. Sometimes the baffles designed to stop this in the doors, do fail over time. And if the speakers were replaced with aftermarket, the speaker basket can stick out in the stock location, getting water on them.
