Considering a 2001 Miata: What to look at?

In the middle of winter, nobody sell their cars, they are all in storage.
They reshape them at the beginning of spring in order to put them on sale... right now.
They won't be a lot of cars on sale later in the season, not too much choice at least.

BTW, I bought the car: a 2002, dark blue (or midnight), black interior, 68.000kms, 6 speed, so LSD on it, sport suspension, in great condition (well, been prepared by a dealer). Top is in very good shape (did not see a lot of sun)... but no windshield roll bar ( I maybe add one later). The only thing on it, is a big chip on the hood which was repainted by an amateur, not a professional job.
Price: 10.500$ after a misunderstanding for the seller (he wanted 11.000$ but it seems I confused him with the numbers... or he gave up).

All fluids have been checked, but not necessarily changed. Oil and filter changed for sure (bulk 5w-30 from the dealer), coolant seems quite new (maybe just refilled), same with brake fluid.
I will do the gearbox and rear diff myself at the end of the summer before storage.
Tires are only good for this season (2/32 on 2 and 3/32 on the other two).

That is a barebone car, no AC, no ABS, but well maintained by its owner who went to the dealer for some maintenance regularly (like every two years, every 12.000 kms).
The dealer spent 150$ for the inspection of the car (guaranteed for 3 months/5.000kms), 60$ for oil change and some fluids, 92$ to clean the exterior and interior and 40$ to clean the engine bay. There is not one trace of dirt in the engine bay.

Finally, here some pics (forget to take the engine bay).

It is already written SOLD! on it because it was sold to someone else yesterday, but the guy cancelled the sale for financial reasons.
So the seller called me back this morning (I called yesterday for information) telling me the car was back on sale.

We will see if I got lucky or not in the future.

Booster for my daughter is bought, bank cheque is ready, we will take delivery of it tomorrow night.

Congrats I had an NA Miata that was fantastic. Bought it dirt cheap for $1000 with 150k miles on it did all the fluids, changed out the shift boots, did paint correction on it, and cleaned the interior all costing me less than $400 and sold it for $2500 6 months later.

Thanks guys for the nice words.

No Indylan, I won't autocross it, it is just a cruiser for me and my 5 year old... we are going to have more fun this summer. She likes it a lot.

I am just waiting for some nice corners to get a little bit of fun when I am alone in the car.

Just don't like all the attention I get when I drive it, I am not used to that and that is definitively not what I am looking for. I hope to rapidly forget about that part and just enjoy it on my own.

Now, time to spend some time on miata.net
