Conoco-Phillips syn blends-Kendall vs TropArtic?

Dumb question here- looked at motor oils in stores yesterday for the first time in quite a while. I just filled my car sith the very last of my Schaeffer stash, & today filled Mom's car with the last of the Pennzoil. So, I'm thinking ahead to what to use next, & would really like to stay with something easily available & maybe even semi-cheap!

At Big Lots, saw Kendall Syn Blend 5w30(GT-1?) for $1.59/qt- back of bottle said mfg by Conoco-Phillips, Houston TX. 5w30 was the only weight available there.

At Walmart saw Phillips Trop Artic Syn Blend for $1.48/qt, avail in 5w30, 10w30, & 10w40, also made by Conoco-Phillips. Looks like a real bang-for-the-buck winner.

Any real reason to pick the Kendall over the Trop-Artic? I suspect they are very similar to identical, but might be wrong. Looks like C-P makes several synthetic blends that are good oils at great prices.

Check used oil analysis for Phillips Trop Arctic, Kendall GT-1 and Motorcraft (also made by Conoco Phillips) and you will see very good and very similar results. All three are good oils, so I would go with price and availability and stick with 3000 to 5000 mile OCIs.

I'm going through the same dilemma... Any preference between the Trop-Artic blend and Havoline dino?

I like them all. I stopped by my local oil distributor today after work and found he had Motorcraft, Kendall synthetic blend, as well as Mobil 5000 and others marked $1.50 each. I bought 6 Motorcraft and six Kendall 5w20 for the civic. I'll probably go back for some 5w30 for the van. I like how the straight dino Kendall does in my van and I think Conoco Philips earl is the best bang for the buck out there!

I just poured the first five quarts of 84 quarts of TropArtic 10w30 I purchased at Dollar Tree Stores last August in my Sonata last Saturday. Nothing magic happened - nor did I expect it to. What I expected is that the engine started, ran smoothly, and pulled to prior expectations. So far it hasn't disappointed. As others have said or implied, I believe these ConocoPhillips (and Motorcraft, too) are semi-synthetics that all flowed from the same spigot into their respective bottles. Very good entry-level oils at an equally very good price.

Since I also run out of Shaeffers 700 .Iam using Kendall 10w30 blend planing to run 5k interval.All the tech sheets for Trop Artic,Kendall,Connoco,Union 76& Motorcraft are nearly identical.

And what marginal differences are noted are easily explained by sampling different production runs. Some have used those differences to promote brand preference among the various CP motor oils. My take is that ConcocoPhillips is showing just how tightly they're able to maintain final quality from various production runs.

I just bought 5 quarts of Kendall 5W30 at 1.59 a quart at Big Lots. We don't have the Trop Arctic here in New England and the Motorcraft is up to 2.07 at Walmart.

I may use this my next OCI...I was gonna use Castrol Blend or Chevron/Havoline mix but this stuff seems to be worth a shot.
