Conditioning old hoses

11/32" is a common US OEM transmission line now. Tight fit on 3/8" fittings.

On my Taurus they use 14 mm coolant hose on the oil cooler. 1/2" is a tight fit.

Apparently I'm on the OP's ignore list, but that's alright; you can't win'm all.

Merkava, you aren't on my ignore list. the reply to your third post is just below it. I am more interested in making it supple than just getting it on. But silicone grease would help. I will see what the 3/8 and 5/16’s hose I have will do this weekend. Maybe some paper wrapped around the fitting would keep it a little better. I may end up rigging in that pcv valve filter too. Too many projects.

PCV filter
bypass filter
headlight harness
inspection
ARX rinse in engine, clean in transmission
RM-125 clean
Computer power supply DC adapter
New laptop

Do they let you do your own plumbing work in Japan? Wondering if you can find appropriate enough hose in a hardware store or plumbing supply. Also look in gardening stores.

I've seen stuff that looks kind of like heater hose at Home depot for washing machine hookups. Probably not as durable as the "right" hose, in that it may not be resistant to some underhood chemical, but will look good long enough to pass inspection.

I will see what I can do this weekend Gary, but there was quite a bit of difference.

Do they have that "self fusing" electrical tape there? It's got a backing that you pull off ..and it's sorta like Sticky-Hands® ..or gummy bears ..but sheet/tape like. You stretch it and wrap it around what you need to seal ..and it sorta "forms".

I don't really know on that one. Right now, it doesn't matter if you can or not, people just aren't doing it. Supposedly 50% in a recent survey said no sex in 6 months. The government blames internet and TV for no sex and declining birthrate. I blame Japan, and it's way of life for no sex and no kids. It's expensive enough to keep yourself afloat. WHy birth an child when most of your money will go to keeping it in clothes and school?

..that's the price of a successful modern industrial society. No one asked Japan to soak up so much US revenue that they could wipe their behinds in it...forcing them to unload the stuff and sending the yen into the stratosphere. They wanted it all. Naturally, as with all others, they surrendered to the attrition that has always been our ultimate victory tool. We have more lemmings to send to the sea in such matters. No one asked them to enslave themselves to the U$ for advancement. Those who live by the $$ ...rise an fall with it. Be careful on what you set out to conquer. It may be your life blood.

Funny little "trap play" that happened there, no?? Sure it was paid for dearly in human capital ..but you can't have it all

Hoses have been soaking, and they got bigger. There is still some #@$%! on the tip of the PCV valve. I am starting to think that it is the PCV valve causing my oil burning. When I had the AC on yesterday, I didn't get the smoke I usually do while waiting at a light. Could the upped RPMs keep the oil from being sucked in?

Shaman, how is your whole system routed? That is, is the fresh air vent filtered through the main air filter and attached to the air duct plumbing above the throttle body (whatever that may be)? Or does it have it's own filter (foam pad type thing)?

Any chance you can snap some digital images of this setup and the deposits that you encounter?

Here there would be a few easy "let's see what this does" remedies. You could lengthen the hoses to see if that stifled the oil migration ..etc..etc. You appear kinda stuck with OEM where you're at.

Shaman, can you order from a US company that sells via the internet? If not, use standard hoses with an adaptor. Can you get hardware from a plumbing supplier?

Alright guys, I put the cleaned up PCV valve into the car, and the smoking at lights went away for about an hour. After that, it starting back up slowly, and then was back to normal. I think that something is just quickly fouling the PCV valve. There was noticeable oil on the tip of the one I pulled out. It may be time to get that PCv valve filter going. Gonna have to do it this week sometime. GF wants to spend some time with me.

It's not coming from the PCV valve. Got the catch can put in, and not much is coming out of the air, but there is still a lot of oil burning.
