Is there any leather conditioner that actually helps automotive leather? Seems like my old mustang seats have coated leather and don’t really absorb, even using good stuff like Obenaufs leather oil and letting it sit over night. Absorbs maybe a little bit but not really well and still feels dry and…. Old. Most of the auto stuff just seems like silicone with maybe a few other ingredients.

On my Corvettes I have used water only. That's all you need for most cars because they are some sort of synthetic leather anyway and most cars do not have real leather seat covers or they are covered with some sort of coating. Many manufacturers say to use only water.

Don’t condition them. You don’t have real leather. It’s clear coated. Bucket of hot water, simple green APC mixed ratio depending on how dirty, and horse hair brush. That’s it. Don’t fall into the marketing products out there that are ‘designated’ for that purpose. All you need is an ALL PURPOSE CLEANER for interior.

Something like Mother's VLR will work best, and you may need multiple applications before you start seeing some decent results. Of course, that all depends on what condition the seats are in currently.

I'm also not a fan of pleather; just last year I redid all the seats on my Explorer which came with "leather" being an Eddie Bauer. I was able to get genuine leather seating surfaces made from a company based out of TX called The Seat Shop and it's on another level. The moment you open the door, the first thing you notice is scent of genuine leather, much like my Lexus.

My hypothesis: as the coated leather seats age the coating will develop tiny cracks and conditioner will reach the leather. Leather, coated or not, dries out over time and becomes brittle and eventually develops cracks. Butt sweat does not help. Over and out.

I don't disagree. I tried Obenaufs leather oil because, well it couldnt hurt. Noticed SOME penetration in SOME areas. Then I tried Meguiars leather cleaner&conditioner (which is much lighter and much crappier on real leather) and noticed more "conditioning." These seats are from 1996 and in overall good-great shape but lots of little love-cracks.

The seatshop is amazing - redid the leather seats of my 06 Sierra Denali and the leather color match and fit was PERFECT but the best part was the quality of their leather was so much better then the stock leather and softer too!

They have been absolutely amazing, the color is an exact match and so is the stitching and leather quality. Perhaps a little overboard, but I treat them once a week with Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner followed by an application of their Leather Conditioner.

I wish I could also get the vinyl on the door trims redone in leather, but they only do seats.

Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion. Unscented version if you’re not a fan of cocoa aroma.
Good heavens, no. Coconut with a hint of sweaty feet is the Scent of a Woman or rather of the mustachioed HR lady. Hoo-HA! Gives me the shivers. Connolly Hide Care is fragrance-free. I'll get her a tub of that stuff.

Meg ultimate leather is best I find , you can use it on anything interior accept touch screen , it make my black interior look wet but not greasy , smell good too .
