Composite Oil Pans

When I saw that my 22 Chevy Blazer had a composite oil pan with a plastic drain plug I was somewhat dismayed, but then I thought well at least it won't rust through!
There's a lot of interesting features on the GM LSY 2.0T. Plastic electric water pump. No valve/cam cover. They use a cam tower, where the cams come out with the cover. If you pop the plastic engine cover off, it looks like the thing has 10 ignition coils. The 4 down the center are. The other 6 are for cylinder deactivation. 4 on the intake side, two on the exhaust.

I do not think that plastic oil pans are an issue. Most of todays cars are disposable. Mileage and longevity are different things.

I know two owners of Ford F150's with plastic oil pans. Both have had multiple leaks resealed and pan replacements. Doesnt inspire confidence.

Might be isolated to F150s...how old were they? No issues with my 2019 VW plastic plan exposed to extreme temps in the winter. No leaks.

I had the no gasket silicone only oil pan changed on my '15 2.7 and it leaked worse after the change. The pan is non-reusable, and was backordered for four months. At least the new pan came with a gasket, but it did require matching valve covers as part of the update. So far so good, but still no fan of plastic oil or cooling parts.

i am okay with a plastic intake and valve covers. but plastic oil pans are a strict no from me. something so vital to engine/transmission operation should not be made of plastic. especially with the amount of heat cycles a oil pan sees regardless of being engine or transmission
Additionally - our GM’s use the aluminum pan for added stiffness
