Comparing PP 5w30 to M1 0w30

At 100c cSt the PP is around 10.3 and the M1 is around 11.0 according to the two spec sheets.

The M1 naturally has a little better cold weather performance because of the 0W rating.

The PP 5W-30 is a Group III base with some PAO in it and I believe the M1 0W-30 is mostly PAO.

If I were in Anchorage I would choose the Mobil 1 0W-30.

Mobil no longer lists the pour point for M1 0W-30 (now packaged as AFE like their 0W-20).

Much like volatility, it's gone up a bit probably from the use of Group III.

I think Platinum is as good or better then Mobil 1.

I am considering using one of them, but is concerned over their ACEA ratings. PP 5w30 is A5/B5-04, M1 0w30 is only A1/B1 rated.

Real question is do the ratings mean anything?
M1 5w30 has many ratings, GM 4718, Accra HTO, Ford, etc, but still got bashed/beaten in wear protection. Valvoline Synpower 5w30 "claims" to be meeting GM4718, but is NOT on GM's approval list.

A 0W-X without a pour point quote. Was Bernie Madoff called in to consult on this?
