205/55/16 V rated $65 at Discount/America's Tire 60,000 mile warranty (IMO doubtful it will make it)Thinking about putting on Focus (calls for H rated) that is driven in So cal about 100 miles per week.

I did a quick search, if you spend a paltry $20 more per tire you can get decent safe tires in your size and speed rating. Being cheap seldom pays, less so in tires; they are the only interface between your car and the road. Compared to the price of gasoline, $85 per tire for four tires and 65,000 miles is negligible. The last Chevy C2 cars [Opel Corsa B] sold here in Mexico came with GT Champiro tires; they lasted alright I suppose, but how great can their wet stopping distance be? If you really must have Chinese made tires, Kenda, Maxxis, Kumho, Hankook and Pirelli make some of their tires in China and are much better products than GT. GT is just about the bottom of the barrel, maybe a little better than Primewell.

260 AA treadwear? It'll die quick. If nothing else make sure the warranty is on that specific size.

If you live in Southern California and don't go skiing then it would be better to buy summer tyres. All weather ones will wear faster and require a longer braking distance than summer ones when warm, also I have never heard of the company.

Chinese generic. I was researching tire in 245 40 18 and found this as well. The problem it seems, is you will not be able to find local inventory for replacement easily (even in the Discount Tire locally). I've also not seen many reviews either.

I'd imagine many Korean or Euro/American/Japanese brand made in China would be of higher quality.

Its not likely we'll have significant rain soon, so you should wait until Black Friday and buy a set from Discount Tire - it will either be $50 off four or $100 (last year was only $50, but they do $100 at least twice a year).

While $65 is an attractive price, I'd seriously consider others before trying. There are 27 non-winter tires listed on Tire Rack's site at less than $100 in that size, most of them with higher treadwear ratings. However, given your deal spotting ability, I bet you've already checked them out.

The GT Radial Champiro 228 did reasonably well in CR's fall 2012 testing program, but the 128 was not tested.

I agree with poster above, if you don't have to have new tires now you should wait until end of the year, AT should have some rebates.

For a long safe life save up for a tyre from one of the following good makers:

Continenatal, Nokian, Dunlop, Michellin, Pirrelli, Goodyear or Bridgestone and try to get one that is made in the US or Germany.
Never buy fuel savers, all weather or go green specials if you like stopping in a hurry and ignore wear rate and noise figures, as it's money well spent on new tyres or a louder stereo.

Thats the tire I bought recently in the same size as the OP. Just hoping its ok for Cleveland, Ohio weather?

Went thru DTD where price was $87. Closest DT store is in toledo which is 1.5hr away. But the store's price was $55. DTD price matched after talking to the manager. This was early september and received $100 rebate. Installed at Walmart so about $206 after install and rebates. Very happy with them so far.

Have you tried an emergency stop on a wet road alonside the same car type with Contis fitted?? Lots of dead drivers were happy with their tyres.

Excellent price for four 205/55/16 installed(after rebate) for even Chinese tires, for 4 Hankook tires it's a steal.

The old contis I replaced would slip on a wet road while accelerating. The ventus v2's do not slip at all. Very nice grip.
