No. You just say give me a better price or I will call dish, Verizon, etc... and cancel my deal with you( Comcast ). You don't already have to have an account with the other company.

I called and got the 89$ service
plus 9$ for additional room
plus 7$ for modem rental.
I will buy a DOCSIS modem, probably the ubee one, but i want to see what they install first and then I will buy it.
I wonder if I can buy the digital cable box too?

No, don't buy your own cable box. It's not worth it. Ones like the CAble Company uses are generally $500+ and you can't really buy them anyway, they are generally sold only directly to MSOs. Plus they are tbh quite failure prone compared to modems. Rent the box.

What you apparently don't understand is the difference between D2 and D3 modems. D3 modems support channel bonding, so they support higher internet speeds. For example, at TWC Turbo (20/2) will work on a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, but for Extreme 30 or ultimate 50, we require a DOCSIS 3.0 Modem. Theoretically, D2 supports up to about 38mbps or so, but that puts a lot of strain on the Fiber-Coax node on a single channel. D3 is partially used for load balancing, since it allows the load to be spread over 4 or 8 DOCSIS channels instead of just 1. It has nothing to do with whether it's wired or wireless. It has to do with what internet speed you have.
I'm not sure what Comcasts' cutoff point for D2 vs D3 is.

In Provo Utah, Google Fiber is taking over. Comcast is responding with ridiculous speeds and prices in this market only. Like 250 meg down 100 up triple play deals for $120. Too bad i live a few cities north and can only get their regular offerings, slow DSL, or nothing.
So, you just need Google to come to down and make things competitive.

I should call my provider; apparently they are converting us over to fiber in the near future. If they want $120/month for internet I'm telling them to take a hike! Our DSL is fast enough for our needs.

few weeks back I called to renew to get a better price and they switch me to their U-Verse internet.

don't forget comcast owns NBC and they paid all those actors millions of dollars for their acting talent. I cut the cable tv cord and have over the air antenna tv. my telecommuting job pays for my broadband internet. I was getting telecommuter att landline company paid for, but my job decided they needed to cut costs. I use cell phones for my phone line. I know my sister pays $200 for her tv/landline/internet bundle through Comcast. it seems to only way to control costs is threaten to leave for att/verizon/dish promotions or cut services like I did
