I have an 09 corolla and I’ve replaced the front strut assemblies, ball joints, sway bar links and bushings. And I’m still getting a clunking over bumps…any ideas?
The bushings are worn I’m sure but I’m not sure if those are them for sure. I’ve done the tire shake test and everything is tightControl arm bushings, engine mount(s), ?
I replaced the whole strut assemblies. New springs struts and mountsStrut mounts?
Engine mount?
The brackets that hold the bushings? Or the actual nuts that hold the bar to the strutsDouble check your CENTER links on your sway bar and see if any bolts have worked loose. It's a fairly common issue.
What brand was this?Looking like defective struts. Both pistons are wet with fluid so yeah woo I get to change them again
Duralast which I believe are made by Gabriel. Lifetime warranty so I’m not too upset; shouldn’t take too long to replaceWhat brand was this?
And at least purchased locally, to make returns easy.Duralast which I believe are made by Gabriel. Lifetime warranty so I’m not too upset; shouldn’t take too long to replace
That’s why I did that plus they had money off. Swapped new ones in already…clunk seems quieter…chalk it up to defective strutsAnd at least purchased locally, to make returns easy.
I’ll have to check that, I’ll use a rubber strap wrench and an impactMy struts had a banging and it ended up being the top middle bolt was loose, that holds the spring tight.

I’ll just have to check the center strut bolts. Something is worn or I’m hearing thingsI was kind of disappointed when my mech said he had to use Gabriel shocks from Auto Zone (all that was available in town at the time) on the rear of my Lucerne but so far I like the way it rides. He also said not to worry they have a life time guarantee. The only other shocks available were from the GM dealership which would have been five times the cost per shock.
