It wouldn't surprise me if a pothead were also using other stuff. Yeah, yeah, smoking pot doesn't lead to other drug use.

It wouldn't surprise me either. It's typically the first drug people try...some take it further, some don't.

BTW - Michael, you had every right to not want to be in the car and to not be a part of it. They should have asked before sparking up. It wasn't fair to put you in a position where you could get in trouble.

You don't have to go around baked out of your gourd, mush-mouthed and red-eyed calling everyone 'bro' or 'dude' to be a smoker. You can't imagine how many middle-age business men smoke.

I can't do it anymore because of my job, but I would in a second. Like any indulgence, it's something that should be taken in moderation. I was over-indulgent as a younger man so I have some difficulties with short term memory that are only now (after a couple years of not smoking) starting to improve. Then again, I used to take down 3 or 4 blunts of some potent stuff over the course of a normal day, probably a little more than the 'average bear'.

I once worked with a group of potheads some years ago. 5 or 6 that I know of. They would have a pot party all weekend, then when they came to work on Monday, they were useless. Sometimes it would be Tuesday afternoon before we could get any work out of them..... Bunch of losers.

Agree, although I know some that claim it has no impact on their driving. Alcohol is worse by far. It's never a good idea to operate any type of car or machinery while intoxicated with anything that may impair your senses.

Marijuana has some very good medicinal value but like anything else, overuse is bad.

It usually leads to a bag of Doritos or a box of Oreos.

The drugs people use today is insane. I am not saying that pot is good but it is the least of our worries. If people would quit after smoking some weed we would all be better off. I have never been able to figure out why anybody would use Meth, but there are plenty who do.

There are people who smoke cigarettes dipped in embalming fluid. It is insane today.

I find that hard to believe. Maybe most pot smokers can function normally while stoned, but some get rather spaced out and I would think that they would not be as quick to react to situations on the road.

Not to go off on a tangent, but it's not the functional pot smokers who amaze me, it's the functional coke heads. It's not just Joe the Plumber. A lot of people do that stuff...not me, btw. That's definately one of those things which you feel much more "bad" afterwards than "good" on it....apparently.

Yeah, functional cokeheads are an amazing wonder of nature. I have no idea how you can stay up all night coked out of your mind, then get up the next day like nothing happened. That's like waking up after being beaten with a crowbar to the brain. It's equally hard down as it is up, and that's saying something.

There's only two professions I'm aware of that are predominated by cokeheads and that's waitstaff at busy restaurants and car dealers. And coke dealers of course. Of all the drugs in the world cocaine and meth are the only two I will go out of my way to talk people out of using. I've seen too many people get sucked into that stuff, good friends of mine now only shells of their former selves... It's a terrible drug because it's so effective.

The totally and insidious junkies scare me. They're invisible. It's one of those mind benders for me. I can accept a disenfranchised derelict dysfunctional due to dope ..but the confirmed junkie that can manage an upright job (manager, etc.) is too much for me to handle.

Smoking weed is like anything else. It's the rhetoric that you heard from some adults when you drank underage. "You can't handle it". It must meant that you were incapable of sensible management of use. It's the same with weed. Those who are functional remain functional ..those who are not ..don't. Cops ..public officials ..just about everyone I knew as a teenager smoked weed. It was a en vogue thing to do during the student deferment, draft evading, Vietnam War era. Many a cultured student engaged. Many a veteran engaged. I know nuclear engineers out of the naval program that smoke ..and sweat bullets until their contract assignment is over.
