clicking/tapping noise when driving at speeds above 40 mph

hey guys! so im my hummer h2, i noticed today i had the windows down and when i was driving like 40-45 mph on a straight road i heard a tapping/clicking noise from the outside driver side. i hit the brake and it didnt go away, and i noticed the noise stayed whether i was accelerating, decelerating or cruising. i noticed when i slowed down to a different road and was driving 30mph the noise was gone, i drove thru some parkign lots too and the noise was gone. and then when i sped back up to a road that had a higher speed the noise came back

however most of my days are spent driving on roads like have a 30-40mph speed limit so i have never noticed the noise before. also a few weeks ago my mechanic took my truck for a drive and we did some hard turning and driving in a parking lot to test my wheel bearing and cv and everything sounded fine..

i tried to turn while giving gas but it does not seem to make any noises when i am driving below 40mph. only seems to happen at higher speeds

any idea what it could be? or how i could diagnose it?

Could be a lot of things. It could be as simple as a rock in a tire. That should click faster though as speed increases. I am not familiar with hummer H2 so should let others more informed help you.

Have you and a friend been joking with one another lately? If so, he might have put a zip tie on your driveshaft and it's hitting on something near it.

haha it literally sounds like a zip tie or something but nah he wouldnt do that

I've had pine needles get stuck in the plastic pieces around the wipers and raise a holy ruckus at about 40 mph.

Check tires for screws.

Plastic undertray or trim that gets flapping above certain air speed? That would have no relation to accelerating, braking, engine speed etc...

wierdly so i guess its still there at any speed above 5mph. i didnt hear it before and now when i paid more attention i can hear it. i guess when im at 40mph it gets loud enough to notice. could this be a mecahnical issue or most likely just something flapping ?
