After sanding and polishing some headlight lenses I sprayed UPol #1 as recommended by Trav, from an aerosol can. I got a lot of orange peel in the finish. Would polishing it remove most of the orange peel?

Sure just let it dry a week or so then sand it lightly with 2000 and water then buff it, recoat if you burn through. Next time apply it a little wetter (I know its hard to do without sags or a run) for less orange peel, 2 coats is all that's needed.

I was practising on some scrap pieces of glass this afternoon and applied it more heavily (wetter) and ended up with a milky haze. Googling about it revealed that it was caused by moisture in the air. It was pretty humid this afternoon. Heating up the haze with a heat gun did remove most of the milky haze.

I will apply it wetter next time.

Yes high humidity is a painters horror, unless you have climate controlled conditions or can manipulate the paint to some extent with hardeners and solvents formulated for higher humidity its best to wait for less humid conditions.
