Cleaning the engine bay very regularly is the best approach

The alkalinity of degreasers can destroy loom over time so you might want to chose wisely where you spray it.

I use a pressure washer on mine all the time. For those who think water 'destroys electrical connections' either has never driven through a puddle or the rain or has taken a connection apart.

Clean the van's bay once every year or twice if the engine gets extremely dirty. Gunk engine cleaner with a small detail brush, canister vac in forward and reverse. especially if I need the engine serviced need to have it clean for the tech.

If mine would get that dirty from off roading, I would clean it as needed because you get less messy working on the car and the mud & dirt can hie defects and become a real mess if there is oil in the wrong places.
I do mine using foam shampoo but using hand pump pressure sprayer paint and wheel brush to loosen the dirt and rinse with distilled water using a hand sprayer.
Drive the car to dry the engine, then use both silicon spray and engine protectant spray the following day.
Once every 2 years!!!😮

I clean my engine bay twice a year. Mequiars Hyper dressing is a nice finishing touch. I just spray it throughout the engine bay once done cleaning and close the hood as it dries. A final wipe down helps to tame the overly glossy appearance.

i use this as well....good product, and really haven't been disappointed in any of Mequiars products.

I've never had any issues washing the engine bay carefully. But, I haven't had much time for that lately.

I only wipe them down with rinseless wash.
I use Ech20 and it leaves plastics looking nice. I stay on top of it so it never gets that dirty. If I let it go I'd use water but I try to avoid that. Never had an issue though when using a hose. Just have to be smart about it.

Every couple of year. Pressure washer with hot water. Before that degreaser. Never use full pressure, just that initial pressure that washer has.
Engine always on while doing it and after that 30min drive.

Everything gets a quick wipe whenever I pop the hood. Takes two minutes and it always looks clean.
