This was my first time cleaning the engine bay on my wife’s Jetta. We have owned it 1 year and 6 months (since new) so it had a fair amount of dust / dirt on it. I like to clean our engine bays periodically as it is easier to keep them clean / maintained vs waiting 5+ years where you have to physically scrub everything down to achieve results.
I simply sprayed down the (cool) engine bay with a mix of Chemical Guys car wash soap and water, then rinsed with the shower setting on the hose followed by a thorough drying with my electric leaf blower. Results were good I think.
I did cover the turbo, fuel panel, ecm and alternator before spraying down.
