What are the cleaning additives in Motor Oil, such as Pennzoil conventional, Motorcraft 5000, Quaker State, Formula Shell, Ect... and in Synthetic oils such as PP, M1, PU, and Synpower, Ect... and in High Mileage Oils like Maxlife ect... Is there too much of a good thing and what would these additives be?

Calcium is used by Exxon oils and Valvoline which is an anti-oxidation additive which helps prevent varnish and deposits.

Dispersants for bigger particles and detergents for smaller particles. Dispersants don't get enough due credit on BITOG. Some esters can add to cleaning ability but most oils have none to little of those kinds. As GMFan said, antioxidants help prevent oil breakdown thereby lessening formation of new deposits.
