Hi Guys,

I cleaned MAF on my 328xi 2011 .. When I was changing filter ...
And Now when I started car idle jumps ... ( Warm and Cold car same issue )

I used CRC Maf Cleaner...

Did I damged my maf sensor with it.

How did you clean it? Full force blast, directly on the element? I've heard that some say they're so sensitive, that they only use the dip-to-clean method. I usually spray lightly, with the spray nozzle a good distance from the sensor.

This happens when you clean MAF sensors. The computer will recalibrate to the cleaned sensor and it will be fine in a few days.

I've not seen any change in fuel trims in my Subie after a few cleanings. I can't imagine the OP's MAF was dirty enough to effect them at all let alone enough to effect driveability.

That car keeps the crankcase under strong vacuum. Did you by any chance take off the oil fill cap and not get it back on right? Or did any vacuum line get pulled off during the AF change? The symptoms hopefully point to a vacuum leak and not a bad MAF. Did the CEL come on yet?

Never had that problem with any of GM MAFs either. In addition, why clean it. I haven't cleaned the Trans Ams and it is the original.

I've had the idle change for a day or so, then go back to normal, after cleaning the MAF on the Vibe and the Equinox (first cleaned it on the Nox at only 24k miles).

Yes, how was it cleaned and with what?

You could well have damaged it especially if it is a thin film sensor the protective layer could have been scratched off or melted off by using a harsh solvent!

You SHOULD NEVER EVER TOUCH A THIN FILM SENSOR.

This is just another prime example of "overdone".

It's a 2011 vehicle, so why on-earth would you clean the MAF?

*perplexed*

Q/

No Warranty .. car is salvage 7000Km on it ..

Exactly.

If the car is running correctly, especially under warranty leave well enough alone.

I wonder if the fluid residue has seeped into the unit causing a short of some kind.

Do you read previous responses before composing your own response? He explained the car is not under warranty.

Oh, I missed that, he should have posted that aspect to begin with a 2011 private purchase is rarely not under a warranty.

I wonder what the original reason for salvage was?

Again he fail to post the details that might make it easier to understand the problem.

I'm now thinking it was a flood vehicle. Perhaps corrosion is in the electrical system ?

It got cleaned due to hard starting ..
Car wasn't flooded ( Flooded cars are no repairable they can't have salvage title )
