My son had his plug wires stolen. Of course he didn't know this as he tried to start his car. After several attemps at starting the 1.6 liter engine, he smelled gasoline. The engine certainly appears to be hopelessly flooded. Is the coil and igniter fried?

They broke in and stole the wires? Was the car parked with the top down or something?

I would remove the plugs and try to work out excess fuel. Id also do an oil change ASAP. As far as the coil, I cannot say, but there is one way to find out...

Even if you have an old sp wire you may be able to do a quick test.

Wont know till you get another set. I agree on removing the plugs and trying to let some of the fuel evaporate. This sounds ridiculous to me. Are you sure this isn't a prank of some sort?

I would just get new spark plug wires and try to start it or you could pull the plugs and let the fuel evaporate a little. The coil and igniter should be fine.

They also took the shock tower brace and the chromed oil fill cover. I am going to pull the plugs tomorrow, and check to see if there is a spark.

Floor the gas and crank to clear flood. I would of course have new plug wires on before trying again.

If the strut tower brace interfaced with the strut mounting hardware I'd check all that stuff for proper torque.

I installed a new coil, plug wires and spark plugs while I was at it. After removing the oil plugs, I allowed the excess gas to dissipate. Next, I put an ounce of SSO in each cylinder. The car has a manual transmission so I was able to push the car up and down the driveway in gear to distribute the oil.

After installing all the new parts and checking for spark, the car started and ran normally, of course you can't consider the billowing cloud of burned oil normal.

Where can you get gold plated plug wires? :)

Were they Nology, AEM, or some other highly coveted by 'tunerz' wires??
DC, or AEM strut tower brace?

I am soooo glad that the import fanboyzz/thugzz hate on, and find my ride (and it's parts) sooo undesirable.

Did this happen at school, work , the mall ???
Probably some kids that don't respect other people's property.

Is his Del Sol red, lowered with Civic Si wheels ?
I ask cause I see one on Military Trail a few times this past week.

Make sure you remove the fuse to the fuel pump before starting, or else it is going to dump even more fuel to it.

Not as crazy as my story of mud guard getting stolen.

It happened in the driveway in Royal Palm Beach. It wasn't him you saw, he has a black one.

We pulled all the fuel injector connectors, that did the trick.
