Air compressors often use SA or SB oil in them. I know the Accell brand at Wal Mart states its for vintage engines made before 1930 or air compressors and that using it in modern engines will cause inferior performance or damage. At least they are honest about it.

Well atleast Lucas does not have chunks of stuff in it. [censored] clean oil is better than dirty [censored] oil.

I have to agree, while this oil may not be very good quality I tend to think that someone purchased the bottles and refilled the bottles with used oil.

I guess what my coworker experienced was not an isolated incident of a rogue bottle that slipped through the cracks, or a returned bottle filled with junk. He found two (almost empty) bottles of City Star ATF sitting in the trash of another gas station. Seems someone needed a quick top off for their transmission. He brought it in to share.

As before, the fluid looks awful and smalls putrid. There are chunks clinging to the inides of the bottle and sludge on the bottom. In fact, all the fluid appears to be sludge.

Wow!!! That ATF is bad! Huh, ATF, not DEXII or DEXIII. Or Mercon, or Type F. Just ATF.

I would never even touch this stuff. Even if in a pinch, I would buy the dusty three year old bottle of Pennzoil for $8 than even consider that stuff. And actually, you might be better off running a quart or so low for a few thousand miles than putting that City Star in your crank case.

It should tell people to return used oil to the original bottles, with the cap tightly sealed, to the company. It might save them a lot of logistical expenses.

Still, as a couple of others have asked, what the heck is this stuff??? I mean it, really, what is it? It surely can't be waste motor oil, that would have some TBN left as well as some additives. So that makes it some other kind of oil rather than motor oil. Cooking oil? It does certainly look like it is contaminated with water (and who knows what else). But I can't figure out what the base stock is from.

I mean, it's not even filtered to remove gross particles.
