City or Highway - Synthetic or Dino?

I wouldn't wait for 2500 miles if it was my car. Around 500-700 miles I'd be dropping the oil out and filter and putting in synthetic. In that 1st 500 miles you probably have a lot of metal parts just floating around in there, some caugt by the filter and some just hanginge low in the pan.

BTW, by starting your car and letting it idle for just 15 seconds is one of the easiest ways to give it some extra miles of life.

While I can only extrapolate, Id venture to guess that we couldnt have all of those things if we were running even a top notch dino like havoline.

How many round trips does she do a week - 500?

Obviously with almost 100k on the car, it is exposed to a lot more than 5 block commutes.

Let me expand on the last statement I made that was..."BTW, by starting your car and letting it idle for just 15 seconds is one of the easiest ways to give it some extra miles of life."

BEFORE you put it in gear and drive off!

I remember reading something somewhere that this was important not so much as the oil flow (which it is) but on engine heat. You want parts to come to temperature a bit before putting them under the stress of either putting it in gear or putting it in R or D.
