Chevy Malibu having second thoughts, enlighten me please.

This is funny!

We have tons of late Malibu's at the wholesale auctions right now.

They are perfectly fine vehicles if you take care of them. But you would be way better off buying a pre-owned one that is still under a powertrain warranty.

I own 48 Hours And A Used Car on Facebook. So obviously I'm biased towards the used side of the market. Especially with a vehicle that has remained the same for a while now.

If you're interested in what's out there feel free to PM me.

I just really like the Malibu. I know someone who has a 2018 and had driven it 150k miles trouble free (crosses fingers).

I can snag a 2022 for between 16k-18k low miles.
Sounds good, I liked buying a used car with that low mileage as the only necessary maintenance is an oil change or two. If your research shows it should last, then you should be fine.

I have the same engine in 20 Equinox, the engine is great 55ths miles I use OLM and 0w20. Cracked pistons are in the past, u have to use dexos gen 3 oil

Yep, I have 19 Equinox (one in my photo) that is doing just fine with no issues at all. Fresh fluids tend to keep these cars ( Nox, Malibu) running just fine. Oil get changed every 3-4 months, regardless of the OLM or mileage. Oil changes are much cheaper than issues or a new engine……

Its not a requirement for extended oil changes. Why would anyone do that in a direct injected turbo engine. Malibu is a nice vehicle but falls victim to majority being fleet vehicles which most likely suffer from being serviced regularly.

Too far extended for the conditions. Most people's driving habits require severe service conditions, and that's with an engine that works as new, not one with fouled injectors. Have a look on youtube, you will see what's what. carbonized oil feeds, seized vacuum pumps, noisy chains

I would never do it. shame on those pushing extended oci's

I use synthetic and change it every 6k regardless of what car I'm driving.

The GM products with OLM's are not reflecting what you stated regarding oil changes.

I used the OLM to 20% gets me 6000 miles there abouts. I sent to BS Pennzoil PP, RP, and Valvoline EP. All came back excellent and BS said try 8000. Might not go 8000 but may go to 15%. GMs OLM works.

My oldest sister has a 2010 Malibu - my other sister just traded a 2008 Saturn on a brand new Enclave that I really like …
They just drive - Whilst we decide what differential equations to use on differential lubes 😵‍💫

Yes. Its a pretty sophisticated algorithm.

I went to look at a 2021 malibu after talking with a salesman. I was floored at how in shambles the place looked and how I was treated.

First off, the salesman I was talking with wasn't there. Then it turned out the car wasn't there. Them the salesman that greeted me tried to sell a new maibu for 32k dollars. Huge markup. Then he tried to sell me another 2022 for about 3k higher than other dealerships. Icing on the cake was the 3rd one. It had faded door trim, and the hood looked like it had epoxy all over it, or possibly a really bad bondo job.

Dodged a bullet from the looks of it. I'm trying another chevy dealership next week.

and I believe currently set at 7500 miles or 1 year for most GM Cars...

Bill
Maybe as a “default” but cold starts, short trips …all highway miles all are calculated to give you a change early, or down the road. My 2016 GM car never hits 0% at any even miles traveled. Some where over 7000 miles usually

you couldn't pay me to take a GM FWD car....unless maybe it was 25 years old and had a supercharged 3.8L in it or a quad 4...maybe.

Get something Japanese, but not a Nissan.
