This thread reminds me of a recent South Park episode:

Perhaps you will at least give me credit for not knocking YOUR car. Where I come from that's in poor taste. Ooops, we won't even have that opportunity, will we?

Turk is indeed a friend, and obviously a proud owner of his GTO. Nothing wrong with that.

But there's a lot wrong with someone coming in here with the intent of bad mouthing someone's pride and joy.

Sure hope I see you at the track some day.

So I'm measured on how many times I've attended a single event? Oh what arguments people make on the internet. .

.

And re-read my post. I never knocked his GTO per se , I just don't agree with comparing it to the car in the OP.

How many times has your buddy Turk been there? I bet never, so what does that make him, an even lesser person then I? We're so beneath you now...

I guess I'm suppose to assume you've run there? Prove it.

And you don't know what car I have, or have built.

Stock GTO can go 175MPH. I run 140HP over stock, so I should be able to squeeze 25 more MPH out of an additional 140HP. I got it pretty close.

Again, you guys are off on a tangent. I do & always will stand by my original statement.

Carry on.

As well you should. I have plenty of experience with cars that run at Bonneville and have no doubt your car could near 200mph

I would not hesitate to get one if a deal came along.

Same here, and the FIRST thing I would do is pull as much weight as I possibly could out of it, as that would help EVERYTHING since it would need less; brakes, wheel/tire width, and even power to go much faster.

For the record, I really do like the GTO's. They were not a marketing success, but they have all the right parts (LS engines etc) and the interiors are phenominal quality for the price. Again, I'm around them a lot since my coworker and friend is so into them. He even has 6 leather GTO seats mounted on special risers each with a battery to run the power seat around his poker table!

I stand corrected that the top speed of a GTO was 175. I didn't think the 04's could do that.

^^^They take a while if they are stock, but the incredible ease with which they can be modded yet still be reliable transport is amazing. Plus they are affordable and a bit of a sleeper.

Excellent street car. Just the styling is a personal thing. I think that's why there is more than one make of car sold!
