So give it that stuff and take it out on a day with no rain. I bet it does just as well.
AC and radio won't do squat to hurt that time. Sound deading may add some time but if they could can keep it straight it will do just as well.


One can get a full delete, 'club sport' 1LE option on the 5th gen Z28, or is that the ONLY way one can buy it??

I tried to do this when i bought this 4th gen new, but the closest I could come was NOTHING power/electric save for the base factory stereo, and A/C, NO other weighty options.

The LFA took 10 years to develop and cost 4 times as much. They needed Yamaha to design the engine using F1 technology, and it uses exotic material to save weight. There should be no excuses for getting beat by a Camaro.



It was a no-expense-spared halo car. They knew it was going to be ridiculously expensive and complex, but that's the whole point of it.


I agree with that, but you then have to take the Z28 for what it is. A realtivly cheap car that gets the job done better then those extoics on a track. That is the point of it.


YES, and I actually LIKE the idea that it does this without all of the wealthy, elitist, look at me status, snoot factor which all of the other cars it destroyed carry, and is the ONLY reason why most of the buyers/owners of those said cars purchase them in the first place (like rolling mink coats).

There is NO pretense with this car, and it performs it's given purpose VERY WELL (despite it's STILL considerable mass).
Just imagine what it would do if they could pull even more weight out of it!!

Jay likes a lot of cars, he ordered a P1 too...

Different strokes as they say, I loved the Camaro until I sat in one. I dislike what the chopped look does for visibility. I like my coupes wide open with great visibility. I dislike the CTS coupe for the same reason, looks great just doesn't work if you like seeing outside. (love the CTS wagon though!)

The CTS-V sedan put out a nice number on that list if anyone bothered to read it. I'd also love to know how they got a Viper to go around that fast, the driver must have been insane.

Either way my favorite cars on that list are the slowest, good track cars make awful street cars. GT cars are where its at!

If I was going to buy a Camaro the Z28 would be the furthest down my list. I'd order one with the biggest motor, an automatic, lots of options, and GM's electromagnetic shocks with some reasonable sized wheels on it. A nice fast GT car that can pass with authority and I can just put in drive on the way down to Atlantic City on a Friday and make calls and relax in.

Ugly is subjective...I think it looks great.


It sure is Mike, no argument here. I personally like the looks of the Mustang and Challenger better. But there is no arguing the performance figures for the Camaro, they are impressive

I love it. In my world it almost doesn't matter what it looks like! A pure halo car designed to haul the mail well without much compromise.

Anyone know about the 1LE Camaro? It's been humiliating much lighter and more expensive cars all over the country at tracks these days. And it's fully loaded. Note that Camaro owners like their cars and report surprising real world utility despite the aggressive styling.

Overkill must have a 'Ford' eye, as the sales numbers speak for themselves. The car SELLS so the public approves. And the performance is stellar...
 
If The Camaro is this fast, what kind of time will the C7 ZR1 Stingray do?

I agree! It looks much better when I'm not wearing my glasses because all I see is blurry.

Note that the stiff structure is part of the mass issue. It is hard to remove weight without exotic materials, and low cost was king here.

$ per fun ratio is quite high!

I get the feeling that the C7 engineering team are going to out do themselves and go after PURE RACING MACHINES' times with that crazy beast, if and when they ever release one. (The HECK with mere GT 'street' cars!!
