A year and a handfull of months ago I swaggered through the truck dealer lots, harassing sales critters while ascertaining the best pick-em-up truck for my needs.

Wanted a Toyota but my plan to escape to as rural a place as possible nudged me towards Ford or Chevy.

Ended up with a full-size Chevy Silverado.

I did peek poke and prod at the new Colorado but decided the critter was a lotta' money for a minimal amount of pick-em-up-type vehicle. Additionally, the fear of being a "test bed" for GMC, assisting them in discovering and ironing out the all-too-frequent problems with a new vehicle/model, pushed me away from the Colorado.

Since then, I have kept part of one of my 4 eyes open, on the lookout for Colorados motorvating down the road. I have'net seen a single one for a couple months now and before that saw perhaps 3 or 4 in a year's time.

What's going on? Are they selling that poorly? Or, are they only rare in the eastern Nebraska area?

Kinda' curious if those Colorados are selling or just collecting the proverbial dust on the dealer's lots.

What say thee?

Even in car and truck crazy SoCal, they are a rare sight, along with the GMC Canyon clone. The new Tacomas are everywhere, along with a lot of old-school Rangers.

As a side note, right here in American Honda's backyard, hardly a Ridgeline in sight. I think minature-Avalanche styling is the problem, since this place is a virtual sea of Civics and Accords.

They are rare in NoCal too. By comparison, their predecessor S-10 and S-15 trucks sold pretty good here.

Wow......I can't drive down the street without spotting one.

I don't know if they are any good though.

A friend bought the GMC version of earlier this year. Canyon? He's happy, no problems. He said he checked out the Colorado first, but it felt somewhat sluggish. But the Canyon was a lot peppier, even though he indicated he thought they were both setup the same engine-wise. He also thought the GMC was nicer inside. I wouldn't have expected much difference between the two.

FWIW, I've seen two of them here in NW Atlanta today alone. But they don't seem to be common, compared to other choices. Actually, the one I saw over lunch looked pretty good, at least color-wise. It was that shade that'a about halfway between copper and bronze. Personal thing, I like that look. But back on point, with gas at ~$3 per gal, any truck is probably a tough sell at the moment.
