Well after a year and 3k miles, it was time to change the 84 Chevy Caprice wagon 305 oil and filter. The last filter was full of dirt. Replaced oil/filter with a napa 1050 and coastal 10w30. Still has crude but not as bad as that acdelco filter. Here's the link for the previous filter.

I've always been told regular low zinc oil is fine with stock low pressure valve springs. Car runs fine despite its neglect.
Mid '80s SBC? They ate cam lobes for breakfast, lunch & dinner, even with the higher ZDDP oils of the day. GM couldn't make decent cams to save their life, only when roller lifters came along did they get better. Not too many of those Caprices around here these days, except for a few "donks".

This donk is still doing it. 313k and still going.
