I would like to change the differential oil on my 1994 Chevy Astro. it has just reached 200K Miles, I don't know when, or if at all it has been changed before, so lets just say it is due

I do a fair bit of boat towing with the van and would like to put some good oil in there - what would you recommend?

Is anyone able to tell me the recommended grade and capacity? I don't have that info either.

The differential appears to have some wear, which I guess is not surprising given the mileage and towing use. Does this affect your choice of oil in any way?

This may be a bit of a dum question, but is there anything that can be done to "tighten up" a worn differential?

At 200K miles, don't forget to take a look and see if the axle seals are leaking. Doing a diff service is the perfect time to also do the seals.

Have you tried changing some (removed non site sponsor link) in order to make things right for your Chevy Astro? I don't know if this would help you out, but try to search into other options in order to see the Oil Differential in all aspects of your van.
