Chevy 3.7 I5

Just got my hands on a 2008 Chevy Colorado 3.7 I5 motor 180k miles. In the process of replacing all fluids. The motor oil looked pretty nasty and there is build up under the valve cover. Looking down the oil fill build up can be seen, but not sure how bad it is. Filled it up with SuperTech conventional and an Acdelco filter. My plan is new oil and filter after 1k miles. Not sure what to do at that point? Another round of supertech or go for the Mobil 1 Advanced full synthetic which will be the normal refill. Also, at 180K what are your thoughts about Mobil 1 High mileage? I have never used a high mileage oil. What is the purpose? The truck will only see about 4k miles a year tops. Thank you for the advice.

STHM 5W30 of your choice and once a year oil changes.

Use the high mileage oil every 2K until the day comes where you can view a clear dipstick, 500 miles after an oil change.

Slowly get that engine cleaner, in small increments. Then someday, lengthen the OCI to 4K.

Perfect setting to use kreen with a 5w40 oil. Leave in on 3k.

If that motor has alot of buildup at this point in it's life from not being serviced, you can change the oil every day and it's not gonna un-do the wear and tear that has been done. Pull the valve cover to be sure it's just not what you can see. down the fill hole. It might be better then you think.,,

Formula shell when on sale at home Depot ac Delco filter and drive it. Check level every other week to you get a idea of oil usage.

This seems like a much better plan but I honestly wouldn't leave it in there 3k. Maybe 1k miles.

With as little miles as you're running , I would just change it once year with whatever good synthetic I found cheapest.
Did you change the PCV valve ?
