Let us see those cars / light trucks that have not died yet from a 20 wt. oil. Please do not report unless your car has been run for at least 100 k on a 20 wt. oil. If the car has 150 k and has used 30 wt for less than 50 k then this is OK. We want just those cars that have AT LEAST 100 k of their life with 20 wt. oils.

PS It may also be that cars running 10W-30 wt. multi-grade oils from the 1960’s to the 1990’s may qualify as they rapidly became 20 wt. oils after a few hundred miles. Many oils I have tested for initial viscosity actually started out as 20 wt. oils in the 1970’s. That is when I starting using Pennzoil as it started out a 30 wt. as advertised then held grade the longest

Lots of police cars (CVPI) are out there with +100K miles on them using 5W20.

Do a search here.

Or look in the 100k mile myth thread.

Or many others.

Good point! I love watching COPS when there's a chase--the sound of that OHC 4.6L V-8 winding up to the redline in each gear is a sweet a sound as there exists on this earth!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, not exactly a lot or responses on this one. I hear LOT'S of folks praising 5W-20's, but no one is coming up past 100K's.

Schmoe,

Gimme another 5-1/2 years or so.

Our 2005 Accord will probably be close in that time period. And it will be running on 5W20 the whole time, doing about 5k mile OCI's.

On Havoline if I have anything to do about it.

Ah common, you can drive a lot FURTHER than that!!!

My wife just turned 106K on our 02 Accord. Hope this thing makes it to 200K. Get one paid off, get another....but this car is on a religious diet of M1 SS 5w30 with a desert of PureOne's.

113k on my 01 Focus. MC5W20 and last change of M1 5W20, then I sold it because of great incentives on a new focus. Vehicle ran great when I sold. Did not burn oil.

Neighbor's 2001 F-150 SuperCrew used as a daily driver and to tow a 4700 lb boat/trailer on the weekends, vacations. Over 122,000 miles. Serviced at the dealer with MC 5w20 according to the manual. Runs like new. Normal oil consumption.

Colleague's 2002 Honda Accord V6, long commutes, over 143,000 miles. Serviced with any available dino 5w20 at Jiffy Lube equivalent every 7500 miles. Runs like new. Normal oil consumption.

2001 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. Has had Motorcraft 5w20 and a Wix filter every 3000 to 3500 miles since new. It is ran hard with alot of idiling time and it still does not use any oil and runs strong. I may have enough time to hit 200k before I am assigned a new vehicle next year.

Buzzsaw, you will cause a real stir by presenting solid evidenvce to disclaim all the 5w20 bashing that is based purely on speculation!

By the way, 52,000 on my 2002 3.0 Ranger that has seen only Castrol or Motorcraft 5w20, doesn't use a drop of oil between 4 to 5K drains. I'll check back in a few years when I hit 100K.

I need to start driving more! - 01 Civic EX, 57k miles on 5w20 (or 0w20 for one OCI). Zero consumption despite plenty of hot summer autocrossing and other madness.

I know AEHaas has posted quite a few topics relating to the perceptions & specifications of xW-20 wt oils, so I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question or not. However, since this is the most recent post of his I could find, this is where my question to him is ending up!

My problem is that I've contacted Maybach Manufaktur (web page) several times asking the same question, but no one there has ever responded. Since you carry the insignia as your avatar, I'm hoping you can provide the answer for me.

My question is, "What is the recommended oil for the current Maybach (models 57 & 62) 5.5 liter twin turbo V-12 engine, & what are the specified service intervals?"

I hope you can help!

I had a 2002 Taurus (2V motor) that was running excellent at 122,000 when my company sold it at auction.

I used Motorcraft 5W-20 and Motorcraft filters, although I did not know how great MC oil was at the time.

It took 2.5 years to rack up that mileage, obviously lots of highway driving.

I fell soooooooooooo much more relieved after seeing what Buzzsaw said.Thats what i use in my 4.6 Crown Vic in the Miami area where taffic is always at a standstill.I do 3k 0CI due to the nightmare traffic.I use Motorcraft or Castrol synthic-blend 5w20.

I put 110k on my 99 4.6 before Hurricane Wilma took it out using mostly 5w20.Now have a 05 Crown Vic and hope to get to 200k using 5w20.

The sole recommended service fill in North America is Mobil 1 0w40. 10,000 mile oil and filter change intervals.

Thanks G-Man II. How were you able to get this info? And is the recommended oil different outside of North America?

I guess I'm a little surprised that the service interval is only 10,000 miles. I figgerd one of the benefits of a 10 qt sump would've been longer intervals.

Thanks again for the info.
