People with stuff they want to give away. I almost snagged a 8'x 8' steel shed from a guy going to a new military base.

Lawn mowers all sorts of stuff.

I've tinkered around with freecycle a fair bit. I used it to get rid of an old chair that the Salvation Army didn't want due to a small rip in the back that no one would see anyway. I haven't taken anything from anyone, but there is a bunch of potentially useful stuff there.

BTW, www.craigslist.com has a "free stuff" section, too.

Interesting post. Could be a handy way to rid one's self of those unwanted items without having to tote them to the thrift store. Make the recipient come to you!!!

Got rid of a kiddie pool and a Little Tikes Big Cube playset on there. Friends have asked if I was worried the receipients weren't just reselling the items. I don't care as long as it's gone.

It is well known that people frequent FreeCycle to pick up items for resale. If their time is worth no more than that, then I am happy to be able to contribute to their situation. That is one case where I think our economic system works the way it should.
