Has anyone else seen a spike in oil prices?
All the stores that carry oil (including Wal Mart) want almost $4 per quart just for some conventional oil. I remember stuff from Motorcraft, SOPUS, and Castrol were around $2 per quart.
The ones significantly cheaper are from Peak and SuperTech. ST seems like a decent brand so I'll do some searching for used oil analysis on here but where do you get your oil from?

Just wondering if there's anyone who gets oil cheaper than I do and if so, where.

edit: Sorry about the grammer in the thread title. I meant to say, best place to get cheap oil.

Why do you think I use synthetic????? I can remember Mobil 1 selling for $2.75 a quart at Walmart not it is around $6.25 a quart 15 years latter. I laught when I think of someone paying more then $3 a quart for conventional when they could be getting a synthetic for not much more.

THe state you live in has a lot to do with the cost of oil. Most will not allow oil companies to discount the product one it has been sold to the midle man so that means mail in rebates and less then 10% ever send in their rebate paper work and fewer still send in for their free hat etc......So in many states the chance of getting .49 cents a quart conventional is history.

I'm not sure about "not much more."
Because if you were to buy 5 quarts @ 6.25 for the M1, that's 31.25 compared to 20.00 for dino.
But that's besides the point because prices for both dinos and synthetics increased.

I bought some Havoline at Advance today. Five quarts and Pure One Filter was $2.09 per quart and $4.54 for the filter. Also, bought some PP last month at Autzone for less than it sells at Wal-Mart. Locally, 5 quarts are $23.00 for PP at Wal-Mart. At Auto Zone is was closer to $4.00 per quart. Go online, look at the adds for parts stores in your area for specials. That is what I did. Or, go to this website for deals people post:

The cheapest (good) oil I've been able to consistently get without some kind of special sale is Chevron Supreme by the case at Costco. It was only $11 just a few years ago...now it's like $22.

Farm stores are a great place if you have access to a good one. Just bought a case of TropArctic for $1.69 a quart at Orscheln's. Had to go over the state line to get it though.

Just stopped by my local kragen orielly and they had a sign that said havoline ds clearance for a low price of 3.69 a quart. Amazing .... with the 10.99 a gallon Pennzoil right next to it.
