CHEAP tires for my 98 Corolla

If you do not care which brand as long as it last long and cheap, I'd look at craigslist for any like new ones. If you can find someone that is selling because of new rims or upgrading after getting a new car, they'll be the best tire for the money you can get.

Also check out who has rebates on new tires, but I've seen enough junk yard tire that IMO they are not worth the money.

The Hankook Opitim H727 or the Cooper CS4 are both good choices if they're available in the size the OP needs. Of course Michelin is a good/great choice but, the title of the post is "CHEAP" tires.

I like the idea of...Good tires, Cheap!

Things that would help here is:

The OP already listed the price budget and speed rating, now...
What other criteria for tires is the OP looking for?...Ride/handling, noise, dry/wet traction, winter snow/ice...What?

185/65/14 pretty much boils down to S rated LRR tires, T rated touring tires, and H rated performance (or slightly performance) tires. They are all about the same price but the fuel economy, traction, and trendwear will be trade off between these types.

Thanks Everyone for your input!

After some thought I think I will go with the Cooper CS4's touring T rated because:

1. They will be cheap to purchase $72/tire 50 rebate with purchase of 4, so about $60.

2. Their treadwear warranty is decent 80k.

3. Their website says they are decent for snow traction and wet roads (should be as good or better than the Uniroyals I am using now).

4. I can buy them here locally and have them rotated by the same place that I buy them from (no receipt needed).

5. A lot of you BITOGers like them!

Thanks again, I do appreciate all the advice!!

Mark
