Cheap cord reel mounted

I've been using these reels for a few years because its the best way for me to handle 100' extension cords. The only problem is they're light and not the easiest to handle. I decided I wanted to get a reel I could mount on the wall but they are very expensive for a decent one and the bigger problem is I can't be tethered to one outlet, I have to move the cord from the garage to the front of the house to finish trimming and blowing off the front drive and walk. So this is what I came up with.

I also wanted to be able to remove the whole reel in case I needed to take it somewhere. As you can see I have it secured up against the stud with a hose clamp that holds it steady. Remove the hose clamp and it slides right off.

Was hoping this might give some of you ideas and maybe even some suggestions to improve it a little bit. So far its been working great.

Cost: $10 for the reel and $4 for the conduit and clamps. Hose clamp I had laying around.

I dont think you can do much better than that. I have a 75 foot cord wrapped around a little thing that wraps it up..but its all manual (pain to manually wrap it around)

Nice! I have a ceiling mounted reel in my garage that I bought at Sears that works well. Have a separate 100' extension for outdoor use.

Can you provide the link to that reel? I am trying visualize the entire contraption. Apart from the reel, conduits, hose clamp what other parts are there?

Nice set-up. You could hinge mount a block of wood to the OSB, so it would keep the reel on the conduit and flip the block up to remove the reel.

The only other pieces are the actual wall clamps that you would normally use to mount the conduit to a wall, takes four of them. Sorry you can only see two of them in the picture.

The best is the one that costs the least. This reel solution seems to fit this bill.

Good idea but don't you need some articulated 360 degree power connector to hook up to the wall socket and use the reel while it is hanging there?

I have several shorter cords if I need juice in or around the garage. This one is used mainly for running the string trimmer and leaf blower so I always need the entire length plus need to move the cord to the outlet on the front of the house. This just makes it easier to pull out and wind up.
