Cheap 14" Laptop $220- @bestbuy

I think that this laptop comes with Windows in "S" (Student?) mode. From what I've read, you have to delve into the BIOS to disable S mode, and it took some work to get into the bios
When the Acer was unboxed it took less than 5 min to look up how to do it and NIKE it.

I'm writing this on an even lower spec 14" Asus with Win 11and only 4MB of ram. It works perfectly fine once Win 11 is beaten into submission by removing as much of the crap as possible. I bought this laptop on ebay, brand new in a sealed box with the full warranty in Sept 23 for £88.

More processor or Ram than you really need can consume battery power. This laptop runs 10 hours on a charge because of the low spec..

Are these laptops powerful enough to run Farming Simulator 25?
I haven't looked up the required specs of themat software but you might want 16GB of ram.

I bought my wife a dell inspiron 2 in 1 in March of 2016. i3 processor, 8GB ram, 128 GB ssd. Cost was $500 for an open box model from best buy. It still runs pretty well but the ram gets close to 100% and the hard drive is probably 80.% utilized. Also the screen flickers as something is up with the hinges and you have to open it at a low angle for it not to.

9 years is a great run though. I'm going to go for 16GB and at least 256 ssd this time. Hopefully the next one lasts years as well for her.

Not even a year ago I was able to buy a refurb Dell business laptop with 9th gen Xeon processor, 32gb RAM, 512gb SSD, discrete Nvidia GPU, all the bells & whistles / expandability options that come with a real business laptop for less than $300. It's a Precision 7730 IIRC.

I've since upgraded it to 96gb RAM, more storage than I'll ever need (it has three m2 2280 slots) and will last me many more years than the throwaway sub $300 laptops they sell new. The upgrades (RAM/SSD) are chump change if the laptop will accept it.

I use it for all my vehicle programming that needs to interface with SPS and other programming applications.

If you do buy a refurb laptop, make sure it's a modern CPU (> 8th gen IIRC) that will fully support Windows 11.

data sheet
https://files.bbystatic.com/dBRmBc3HRF+A+hziAt/6Lw==/Datasheet

The 6550m graphics are aprox 50% faster than a 1050ti

farming simulator 25 has pretty stiff "recommended" graphics requirements.
but this laptop passes the min graphics requirements by a good margin.
the processor is faster than the recommended i7-10700

If you do the memory upgrade to at least 2 8gb chips (16GB total) it should be above the recommended specs even with the shared graphics memory. the needed 8GB chip (1) is aprox $20 (computer comes with 1 8GB chip)

My nose is slightly elevated because of the 8GB RAM and small HD, but that's a really good deal.
Purchased an equivalent Acer laptop in 15.6 in for $199 at Christmas. It's been great. Still have 87 gb of storage left. Enjoy your bargain OP

Probably better off finding an off lease business laptop.

It will be more durable and more serviceable for money in the same price range.
Who's servicing and upgrading $200 laptop? $200 is chump change these days. And for that price I will buy new. My choice has not been a dog.
