Just picked up 3-5L jugs of Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20 API-SN from a local store. Great deal! Worked out to $5.40 a liter. The last oil I bought was Petro Canada Supreme (conventional) which was costing $5.71 a liter and is becoming hard for me to get from the few distributors in town. I was going to switch to their synthetic version but they could never give me a price on it and never have it in stock requiring it to be specially ordered in. Seemed like such a hassle! I would much rather buy something on sale from a place that's easy to get to like Walmart or Canadian Tire.
Before that I was a loyal Ford oil kind of guy till I found out that our Ford Motorcraft oil is just sourced from Esso not ConocoPhillips like in the states. It gave me decent used oil analysis but the TBN was down to 2 after only 10000km. I'll still exclusively use Ford filters though.
The oil will be going in my 2007 H-D F150 5.4L and my wifes 2008 Ford Edge 3.5L once we both hit our 10000km oci in a couple/few months. I am planning on doing 15000km intervals for both vehicles on the new oil. Just concerned with the oil filter life and the VCT / cam phaser on my F150.
