On my 98 mustang I picked up a set of 16 inch wheels from a 2006 mustang that I am going to use on it. Tried the wheels and fit perfectly, but the stock size on the wheels is a 215 width. The stock width on the 98 is 205. I am going to buy new tires for it as the tires on the wheels now are wore out. Just making sure that it will be ok to use 205s on these wheels.

what is the width of the new 16" wheels?

Just a guess but going down 10mm in width is usually ok on any wheel.

you would take the rim width and compare it to the spec sheet for the tire you are purchasing. it will give a range of acceptable rim width.
tirerack is handy for tire specs.

I think Tire Rack or one of those websites have a size comparison/fitment chart. It even tells you how much it will impact the speedometer difference.

Upper left, click on the tab “Tire Comparison”
