Changing Full Flow v's Bypass

I have had a Frantz bypass filter fitted for about 6 months on my Toyota Rav 4. I am running with Synthetic oil and used to change the full flow filter every 6 months or 12000 kms. My question now is, what periods do i change both the full flow and now the bypass filter?

Personally I would change the Frantz about every 4,000 miles if I wasn't running short trips in cold weather. I change the Motor Guard on my Camry when I happen to think about it. I look at the dip stock pretty regular. My Camry has no full flow filter. It has 188,000 miles on it. The Camry needs to last until I retire at about 200,000 miles.
The full flow filter needs to be changed at least every 2 years. The Frantz will protect it from acids for a long time. the pleated paper filter will eventually break down. The Frantz is doing all the cleaning.

How does the filter protect it from acids .Does t.p neutralize acids?

No, it absorbs water. Without water, acids can't form.

What eliminates acid is keeping the oil dry and adding enough new make up oil to keep the acid neutralizers in the oil working. The newest Motor Guards have copper and brass internal parts. I was wondering if the copper would start looking like an old penny if ther was an acid problem. i wonder if the yellow brass would stay yellow. On some equipment it is desireable to have some acid in the oil to keep the bearings clean. They probably don't put acid neutralizers in the oil. Your engine doesn't care how you keep the oil clean and dry. The best way to keep the engine oil dry is with heat and the crankcase ventilation. That takes the load off the absorbing type filter.
I have always told people to not keep the full flow filter over 20,000 miles or 2 years. I was reading some Fleetguard information that said a paper filter shouldn't be left on more than 25,000.
