Got a 07 Trailblazer and need to use the spare... but can't find the tool that's used to lower the spare from underneath the vehicle. Where do they hide it?

Unless it still has the special "key" socket to lower the tire, which is usually in the glove box or tool box and is supposed to be affixed to the end of the lug wrench to lower the tire, expect to have to hack the thing off.

Or in my case stuck in the middle of nowhere, wrapping a transport chain around the tire and a tree and driving forward also works but I highly don't recommend that unless you're driving a [censored] company truck and have no other options 100 kilometers from the next town.

Isn't it a doohickey above the bumper but under the cargo floor that you have to stick what is effectively a large flat head screwdriver in? Try your other tire irons and see what pokes in there.

I'm as surprised as the next guy when these look all rusted up but somehow spring into action when needed.

I didn't find the tool...but I used a socket wrench with extension and a 13mm socket to loosen the square headed bolt that a wire is attached to...that lets the tire down to the ground. And yes there is a access hole between the bumper. Thanks!

In many cars the tool is hidden under the driver's seat, or the rear seat unfolds and reveals the tool set.

Good thing you were able to get it done.

Did you buy your car used? Some used car lots take the tools from the car and sell the tools somewhere else.

Is it in the engine compartment?

I once got a flat while driving a buddy's Suburban. I looked all over and couldn't find his jack. It turned out it was in the engine compartment.

I think that if you climb into the cargo area you'll find a cup holder or some such on the left side that you can lift out to get the jack and tools. Then again, I might be thinking of the Tahoe.

My 93 Suburban had that.
