Changed my 2022 Maverick order

I think Ford has a winner with this little truck. It's perfect for people that don't need a full size truck but need to haul a little something more than a car or CUV can handle from time to time. The only thing I'm against is the CVT, I will never be a fan of those abominations. Maybe one day I will have a change in attitude, but not today. Still, this little truck is a good thing I believe.
As for the name, why should that matter, it's just a name. I'm a MOPAR guy and I get a kick out of people still complaining about the Charger having four doors.
Them-"That's not a Charger!"
Me-"Yeah it is, it says so on the dealer sticker!"
Seriously. lol

There is no belt and pulleys in a ECVT. It uses planetary gears. A ECVT is far different vs a CVT.
Many people see the acronym ECVT, confuse it with a CVT and are totally against it despite having no real world experience or knowing what it is.
There is no rubber band effect in a ECVT.

My wife had to buy a business travel car and recently bought a Corolla Hybrid. Her first car with an automatic transmission.
She goes over 500 miles on a tank and refills it with 9.X gallons. You won't regret getting a hybrid.

I'll have to read up on this ECVT. You are correct, well in regards to me anyway, I see the letters CVT in there and my defenses automatically come up.

I am very interested in this truck as well and I'm not even sure why, but it's checking some boxes for me.

Disappointed to hear you can't control gears, I definitely want to pick and hold my gears when I am pulling the boat.

Just saw the "Cyber Orange" on a 2021 Bronco, sitting at a Ford dealer. It is way, way more yellow, than it'll ever be orange.

I could count on one hand, the number of new vehicles that they had on the lot. Of course, not counting the Bronco, as there is no way that it could be bought... no matter how hard one tried.

who cares it’s a fwd economy truck not a porsche pdk

just let the car drive itself and it’ll kick down in 0.00001 seconds if you need to pass

Passing is not my concern on the lack of manual control. It is when I drive in hilly areas with lots of fairly steep short duration hills in my area. Just going to my GF's house there are about 40 of these type hills in 35 miles. On cruise control my truck will sometimes go down two gears in a 60 zone. When I lock out 6th it rarely downshifts and make for a much more pleasant drive.

My autos have never kicked down that fast.

Not only that but it's nice to kick it down for coasting down hills. And also nice to lock out unnecessary upshifts, like when you have to let off for a corner then have to climb a hill--no need to go up a gear only to right go down again, but now while under power.

Have found my 4AT's are more pleasant to lock out of OD when cruising around at 30mph, just no reason to try to grab OD.

Get the trailer hitch anyways, might come in handy for something small. Only $100 option.

I cancelled my order after realizing I'd have to get a Lariat to get push button start.
I had to go up to the Lariat to get nicer seats. Didn't like the basic ones.

NEVER any CVT's in my ownership + the only slush boxes were older classics i drove daily, surely could not pass a 20 thou 72 cutlass hardtop that still looked NEW in the late 90's, a great car thats still around as i sold it locally, a set of Budnick Famosa wheels really made it POP!!
If Ford equips these with their E-CVT they should be stone reliable. I have to say Ford seemly hit a home run with these. I just checked and can order one for $22K and some change including destination. That is a steal for what you get. Bravo Ford.

Agreed and they don't drone and you never think of them as anything but a basic automatic.

their ecvt in our FEH was really good. somehow even the power transmission feel was better than the belt type in our new CRV. It was smoooth…. Which makes sense because basically it boils down to magnetic fields holding the torque together. I had to learn to drive less by tone and drive more by just telling it what it needed to do. if getting ready to jump out, there was a slight lag because it would allow the engine to spin to power and then hold… but just like any other auto, you just anticipate the lag and use English on the skinny pedal. Ours did have a little rubber banding if you were at near with and suddenly came off it hard - it responded better to some finesse with the foot.

our CRV has a sport mode which commands a higher engine rpm under all conditions. While goofy in the crv, besides from killing the mpg, it is very effective, or would be in an accord or civic. The crv chassis isn’t natural in S mode. BUT, I wonder if ford would include that type of programming as an option. They do in their multi-gear ATs.

I like the ecvt. would have no issue with another.

I agree except the name is horiffic.
Mavericks were the pinnacle of mid seventies mediocrity, I mean just junk.
Ford must have saved a pretty penny in the marketing budget with the group that picked that name.
Most people probably don't have much of a memory of those Mavericks, so I think it's pretty safe, if lazy. I bet they considered Courier, but decided Maverick sounded cooler. Maverick doesn't have nearly the negative connotation around it as Pinto. I wonder if they considered Falcon?
