Change it or let it ride a little longer?

The FJ is similar to the 4Runner.
I used to do a Spill and Fill at 5K and a full oil and filter change at 10K miles. The dealer specified 10K mile oil change intervals on 0W-20. The filter was a cartridge type and always looked clean when I changed it.

An extra few hundred miles won't matter.

I'm thinking you've been here for over 20 years, and should know by now what the answer is. ;)
Why would you even think a few more days or miles is a risk? 🤷‍♂️
You could probably double the OCI with that oil and 1GR-FE engine and be perfectly safe. (y)
Ya I know but it's bugging me. I know it's not going bad exactly at 5000 miles. I'm more worried about the champion filter .I have a ST ecore filter I can spin on but it's pleat spacing is terrible

I’d be more comfortable running an engine like your FJ the full length Mobil advertises, than I would a new fuel diluter that has an OLM that triggers @10k. You’ll be fine. If your changing the oil at zeros and fives then do the next change 120 miles early.

My daughter runs standard parts plus filters till I can finally tackle her to change the oil. More times than not it’s close to 7-8k. This was my old Altima, 09, that had religious 5k oil changes.

Run it
Change it a little earlier next time , say 3to500 miles earlier
Honestly I'm not too picky but I would not use a champion brand filter , but that's just me

The FJ has mobil1 high milage oil in it. The olm comes on every 5k. It came on yesterday.

I can't use my oil change spot as it's blocked at the moment. The girls have to put about 120 miles on it Friday in desert heat.

I really don't want to lay in the dirt/ rocks to drain the oil.

I'm thinking that the oil is probably ok for a few more days/ miles past 5000.
An extra 4 weeks or extra 1000 miles wouldn't matter. Don't worry about 150 miles. Besides, you're talking 150 highways miles.

When I was a kid in late 70s and 80s, my parents never changed motor oil, which is why I had to learn to do it. My mom's Mazda GLC went 3 years and 30K (mostly highway) miles on Pennzoil conv oil before I learned to change oil and filter around age 12 or 13. The car still worked fine.

When I was old enough to change the oil it is was very black and nasty, kinda thin but with some lumpiness like gravy with lumps. After that I changed the oil once a year, which was 10K miles. I was an untrained kid doing the best I could with no supervision. Her car lasted 120K miles. The engine never had any problems. It was the manual transmission that finally died (due to zero maintenance, not even topping off).

Nowadays oil and filters are better than they used to be. As long as you change it within next month or 1000 miles, it'll be fine. In reality it could go a lot longer than that without mattering with the good oil you're using.

In future buy a good extended OCI oil filter [99% @ 30 mirons (or smaller)] that you have longterm confidence in. My 1st choice is NAPA Gold or Premium Guard. My 2nd choice is Oreilly Microgard Select. Those are extended OCI filters are rated 99% @ 23-25 microns).

However, any average filter will be fine for an extra 1000+ miles. So no worries.
