Virgin oil filter cut open.. I had it on my shelf for my Ford Edge I was really curious what it looked like, so I figured I cut it open.. doesn't really look too bad except for a little excess glue.. little chemical smell.. Thank you everybody, for the recommendations on a new oil filter cutter I also replaced that with a new one....

Looks good to me, especially for the price on RockAuto. I'd run these on my Jeep but they only show the ph3614 size as the size that fits, which normally it takes a ph16 size.

If you have the room there's the PH400XL model that's the equivalent of the 3600.
On my old Jeep XJ I would have room, since the filter sat parallel with the engine block since it had a 90* filter adapter, but on the TJ Wrangler 4.0L the oil filter sticks straight out and down, so I'm a bit limited with what I can fit because the frame rail isn't far away. I'm almost thinking I could just try the PH3614 size, if everything else is the same specs wise. I only do 3000 mile OCIs on the Jeep anyway since it is a second vehicle.

Nice pick up on the filter cutter. I’ve got the same one. It works great on everything I’ve cut.

Just my $0.02

I have multiple champ Xl filters.
Depending on aplication one has a center tube like a purallator the other has a center tube like a ac delco (plastic)

If I'm not mistaken, I think I have one on the shelf for my friend's Nissan, that has the e core design, the one I cut open yesterday has the louvers.

I just cut open one of these today. I was going to make my own thread, but I think I'll just add my photos to this one.

I am happy with this filter, even with the glue. It seems like overall a good USA made filter for the price of $3.92 from Rockauto. I bought three (two to use and one to cut). I will be performing the BG Dynamic Platinum Engine Restoration Kit and wanted some larger capacity filters for that process.

I counted 58 pleats (60 if you include the two on the seam). The louvers looked open enough.
