Hi I love this forum!
I hate that my first post is a question
I from S.F. Calif and live in Guatemala and here the synthetic oil is expensive US$10 for a quart of syntec and up to US$15.00 for MOBIL1 qt
they are selling this spanish oil CEPSA here thats cheaper
they have this CEPSA Star synthetic oil , if you read the description it says synthetic
,from which i guess its a group II & III blend
here is the link
http://www.cepsa.com/productos/jsp/r_h3-p.jsp?arg1=208tecnologie
and they have this other oil thats MEGA synthetic thats labeled as 100% synthetic

according to european laws and the fact thats A3
could this be PAO basestock ?
can they call group III synthetic in europe?
what about 100% synthetic?
has anybody tried these oils are they as good as they claim?
http://www.cepsa.com/productos/jsp/r_h3-p.jsp?arg1=615
sorry thats in spanish.
Thank you for your help.

PD. i already spend day using the search button and learn a lot.

I would say that according to European laws it may be a group IV (PAO) basestock but I'm not familiar with that brand. Do they sell the major American brands of synthetics? Most of those are group 3 except for Mobil 1, Amsoil, and German Castrol. Those are group IV or V.

From the specifications...

ESPECIFICACIONES
API SM/SL/CF
ACEA A3/B4
GM-LL-A-025 (gasolina)
GM-LL-B-025 (diesel)
BMW LL-01
MB 229.3
VW 502.00/505.00

...it looks likes it's pretty decent oil. I wouldn't worry to much whether it's Group 3 or 4 if you saving some money in the process.

Thank you for your inputs everybody.

I have been wondering about this european regulations regarding synthetic oil, You can,t imagine how low is the variety of oils here the only 10w30 i can get are dino supreme and castrol, no delo absolutely no penzoil or GC, and mobil1 and syntec for for a first born

,because everybody uses 20w50 its like part of the culture here The temp never drops below 60 but its never higher than 80. when i buy 10w30 they always tell me and some times im going to destroy my engine in matter of seconds , but every car here doesnt seems to last 80K Miles before an overhaul so im waiting till they figure out the reason.
I think ill give this cepsa oil a try ,seems to be good and smells a little like wine curious
