Have any of you worked with one of these? I got hustled back to New Orleans ahead of schedule as my particular skills were needed ASAP. I'm living in quarters that don't yet have cable or phone working, so I've set up one of those cell phone modem pacakges. It works as advertised, except it's very slow. All I get from it is 14.4kbps -- talk about reliving ancient history! Has anyone had any success in getting one of these setups to transfer data any faster? Also, even as a digital device, it eats the phone's battery up like a hungry T-Rex, which is probably to be expected. . . My phone, btw, is a Motorola T720. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have been a long time user of Cell Phone modems, if you are on GSM network, then thats the max speed you can get, if on GPRS then its 45kbps and if its a CDM 3G, its 60kbps max. The best option is EDGE enabled GPRS which gives you up to 150kbps.
