With the recent $2+ increase in oil filter prices at CT, where are you fellow canucks getting your filters?

I've gotten to the point where I'm disgusted by the disparity in prices between USA and CDN.

Are there any places that will sell filters for a more reasonable markup??

7 bucks for the Quaker State filters is a bit high for my liking. I'll be checking out NAPA or Carquest for their Carquest bmy next oil filter. Anyone know what the NAPA gold and the Carquest premium blue filters usually go for?

I get my oil filters from NAPA.

The NAPA Gold 1036 (similar to an AC Delco PF-52 size) oil filters that I buy; range in price from $4.99 to $6.99 each.

Mostly near/at the the $6.99 range.
I paid $4.99 one time, when the clerk rang it in as a 'mechanic's/garage' rate.

The believe prices very with model/size.

I buy Napa Gold filters from a local Shell bulk station that carries them. I'm pretty sure they just get them from the Napa store in the next town over. The 1515(FL1A equivalent) runs me $4.70. A 1396 for my Pontiac Vibe is about $6. It's a very good price for a premium quality filter.

I know it's sickening how the "orange wall-o-doom" has taken over Wal-Mart and C-tire but I wouldn't use then if they were free, let alone $7! Thankfully some of the smaller retailers havn't turned to the dark(orange) side...lol!

I paid only $6.18 CDN for a trio of Napa Gold 1396 for my Corolla.

But that is using a company number. If not, regular price is $9.95.

This is what I don't like about buying at these outlets that don't really want to sell to the retail customer.

We need chains like AutoZone or Advance Auto in Canada for more competition and fair prices in filters and the like.

BTW, do you guys in the ROC pay a 0.50$ environment tax on your filters, or is it just in Quebec?

not just quebec........
well 55, guess you're just luckier than the ROC.
here in Alberta it's $0.50 enviro tax per filter &$0.10/litre on oils.

PS I got to tell you my story: My wife and I were visiting our daughter in Seattle and we took a trip up to Vancouver...my wife and daughter were shopping and I was sitting in the "guy chair" waiting for them...and a lovely Canadian lady walks by and says, "Taking a break, eh? If I didn't like Vancouver so much I could have left right then because--in that moment--I had been to the REAL CANADA...and that deserves another

Are you referring to Fram? I've bought them at Walmart and Superstore for about $4 for the Honda. Can't recall what brand.

For my Volvo I've used Mann and AC Delco. I plan on buying a case of Mann from the U.S. soon though.

In B.C. we pay 50 cents EV tax (Oops, Sorry it's not a Tax, in fact we pay Tax on the EV Fee)on a small filter, and $1 on a Large filter. I just came back from a trip to Texas with a suitcase full of $1.99 PowerFlow filters.

Hey bacid,
I see you're from Ottawa. Head over to Bell Corners behind East Side Mario's to a place called AutoParts Extra, I've bought Kralinators for my Focus and Honda cars. People here reccomended them as they are a WIX filter. I like them, they are solid and I payed $6.50 each.
